I am a mixed media painter who is easily consumed by a mood, a song, an image... when it happens I am transfixed, temporarily possesed. Eventually this often leads me to the studio where I deposited my inspiration, like a squirrel burrying nuts. I am often in such a hurry to do this that I abandon almost all of the conventions ans techniques I was taught . I more too less attack the canvas with paint, sketching in ink right on to the canvass.
My work is inspired by what I see, and in style borrows some lines from a sort of
French impressionism called Fauvism, an at the time wisely critisized way of early Post Impressionists of caputuring a scene not only spontaneously but with unbridled passion and sentiment in wild colors and leaving exposed bare canvass.
I also borrow inspiration from the graphic novels I read as a young romantic, muses such as Frida Kahlo, the animal and spiritual world, pop icons, and the things my daughter draws and loves.
I keep chickens and a lovely family of three and my studio in the green woods of Seattle Washington.
