A chakra song tribute to Kenny Rogers in honor of his 80th birthday. If I had to pinpoint, my love of music, and the emotional support and security it provided me, really started with him. I was born in 1978, the height of the disco era, country-pop crossovers, and Kenny stardom. As a young girl, if I felt alone or isolated, his music was my constant companion. Kenny once said he’d “made a living singing songs about dysfunctional people. But he also said, “music is what I am, everything else is what I do.” As The Gambler, he gave us the best life advice, “You’ve got to know when to hold ’em, know when to when to fold ’em, know when to walk away, and know when to run.” Thank you Kenny for your lifetime, and my lifetime, of song.
