Hi, my name is Giulia Senatore and I was born in a little town called Pordenone in Italy in north east part about an hour away from Venice, but it is not on water. I moved to Miami, Florida because of my dad’s job when I was seven years old and started 2nd grade here in the U.S. and currently now I still live in Miami and I am 18 years old and just finished high school. I have always been a creative person and art has helped me cope and express my emotions in my mental health journey. I have reached low points before when dealing with depression and anxiety, where I didn’t want to live anymore, but going to therapy, doing art, journaling, time, and other positive coping skills have really helped me improve significantly to a place where I am for the most part stable. Without the help and special creative outlet that art gives, I don’t know if I would be where I am today. Doing art has really helped me. For the most part I like creating mixed media art pieces, also tried a bit of watercolor and acrylics, and started doing a bit paint pouring with a mixture of acrylic, glue, and water. I was a board member as a Senior, the secretary, of NAHS (National Art Honor Society) and I also won two art awards. An art piece of mine was awarded and exposed in the Coral Gables Art Museum. The other award was that I won 1st place and received $100 in the Second Annual Contest for the the Art for Animals for Miami Dade Animal Services. So I have a really strong passion for both art and spreading awareness about mental health.
