After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, I forged a 17-year career as a professional actress. A move to Southern California opened up new interests, and I immersed myself in classes at the Art Center School of Design in Pasadena. In 2009, I began studying oil painting with my mentor and greatest influencer, museum-collected Chicana artist Margaret Garcia. In 2011, I had my first solo exhibit. I’m inspired by the intense color and energy found in Southwestern cities and landscapes. With a vibrant palette and expressive brushstrokes, I capture the essence of an urban experience as well as the tension between nature and man-made structures on the landscape.
